As some of you may know, I’ve decided to take on a challenge for the month of July.
30 Original Paintings, 30 days, $30 each. The point being to see if I could produce what I felt was quality work at a high rate of turnover and real deadlines - something I’ve never been forced to to before. I know that I want to make art my life and career, so this is really a test to see if I feel confident enough to put everything I have out into the world and treat it like my everything.
When I posted that first image to say I was nervous is a gross understatement. I was excited, but to be honest my expectations were low. I figured maybe a few people would want one or two throughout the month, and I’d be happy with that.
As these first ten days have progressed its been more exciting each day. The love and support from my community is heartfelt and motivating, and the new connections being made are exactly what I want - to find more artist like me, and others who appreciate what I’m putting out there. I find myself anxious to post when I wake up in the morning to see what the reaction will be. The nerves have worn off and now the challenge is really how can I make things better? what technique works for me? am I finding another style I can work in and enjoy?
A lot of what I focus on is showing my children and students that they have a voice, and that voice MATTERS. Put yourself and your perspective out there because its worth it. I feel like I’m finally starting to practice what I preach and truly it feels amazing.
As the rest of the month moves forward I’m excited to see what I can do, and am forever grateful to those who are making this experience better than I could imagine.
Stay tuned as I continue to post a new piece daily! More prints and originals coming up throughout the month as well. Here we go!
