Hard to imagine, but 14 years ago today I stepped on a plane and began a journey that would define my life.
I remember sitting on that plane, surrounded by people I didn't know, traveling farther from home than I'd ever been in a time where calling cards and emails were the only way to communicate back home.
There we all were.
Thrust into this bubble that would surround and support us for the next four months - then through the next 14 years and beyond.
We would experience art and culture in languages we didn't understand, travel overnight on trains and planes from border to border with nothing but a loaf of bread and bottle of wine. Each week a bit more comfortable in our town, each weekend a new country to take in.
I had the most unforgettable experiences and made incredible friendships that, to this day, still support who I am and who I strive to be. I don't just love these people, I need them.
We all have these defining times in our life. Be it a semester abroad, a road trip, a summer camp or a weekend away. As life moves on and we strive for more, its important to remember we all have a great story to tell.
At a time where I'm struggling to find some identity, it helps to remember all I've accomplished. All I've seen and done, and the people I've shared it with along the way. Having goals is inevitable, but its hard to move forward sometimes without being able to look back and say, wow, I did that.
And so today my light goes to the Kasteel Well Class of Spring 2003 - you are forever a reminder of what an amazing life this already is. #verbodentoegang
